m6805 died a couple days ago... what are my options?

Hello!

Well, it seems my good ol' M6805 decided to kick the bucket a couple of days ago. It recently started having the occasional random shutdown, then the other day it just shut down completely and won't come back on.

It was weird, cuz first it rebooted itself, then it was sitting there for a few minutes ok, and then it shut down ... sort of. The screen and all the LEDs were off (power, HDD, plugged in, etc), but I could still hear the drive and the fans spinning. I had to remove the battery to get it to turn off completly, and then I haven't been able to get it to power on since.

It doesn't even seem to notice that it's plugged in or not. Power button does nothing, no LEDs or anything lites up anymore... battery or plugged in.

Soooooo.... I don't have money for a new laptop, so I was wondering what my options are? Is there a cheap/reliable place that I could send it to have it fixed (for not too much), or .... guess I could buy a new motherboard off ebay, but I'm not sure that's what it is... that would just be guessing... so not sure. Not sure if it's worth repairing or if I should just try to pick up a replacement on ebay or something...

Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated!! thx!!

First off check the voltage on the power supply to rule that out. To me your problem does sound like a motherboard issue.

Hey I know you said you don't have the money for another one, but my wife is trying to sell her emachines M6805 for pretty cheap. I mean it's got some small cracks in the LCD hinge and the battery only holds a charge for like 45 mins, but other than that it's awesome! <-- If you can actually call an emachines awesome lol

Pm me if interested!
