that card your using trumps my stock speeds on my 7900GS by far. mines set at 375 core and 500 mem..terrible.....
Ive tried 14 laptops in the last 6 months and haven't found one i liked yet, from Apple, Dell, HP, alienware, Voodoo, IBM, and Acer, Either they were to slow or graphics stank or battery life was TERRIBLE
nicest one i tried was a Macbook pro 17 with a 256 mb 8600GT though it only scored 4200 on 3dmark 06..
I had an xps M1710 with a clocked 3.0 ghz cpu 2 GB ram, 120 gb 7.2k RPM hard drive and a 7950GTX and that only scored 4800 like WHAT?!?!?!?
I need a good laptop haha

The only problem with the system is the video card. Its called cause and effect. The reason the system is not posting is because of the bad flash. You say you read the guide but it doesnt sound like you ever took the HD out.

I specifically mentioned rev1 roms as well. We have seen this issue all too often.

i took the hard drive out, its only 2 screws, yeah, and i did use a revision 1 rom just like you all said..
i think going to try out an alienware M15x to replace this..as much as i dont want to..an 8800GTX in a laptop for $2000 and dual hard drives and dual dvd burners is amazing..

I took the rom from Juans iso the 791GTXU.rom and stuck it onto the sotrmlifter iso and flashed from that, it worked with speeds of 500/600, then i upped it to 550/580 and i killed my lappy. haha.

its no biggie..i just wish i could find a lappy i liked..take the Chasis of the E1705, stick a 8700GT in it, better wifi and cpu and cooling and sound and a way to swap the cd drive for battery and ill go for it. haha The XPS M1710 had worse cooling then my E1705 and worse sound..
