RipOff - AccessoryPower batteries

Last November or so I bought a ProPower large capacity battery for my Sony SZ340P. It worked great for a couple of months then one day I tried to use the computer and it was dead. I mean it wouldn't power the computer for a second. I tried charging it and the battery status light indicated it was charging and was at about 40%. But it increased very slowly, taking hours to gain only a few %. And even after that it would not opererate the computer at all.

So I get a warranty replacment... and it fails in the exact same way after a couple of months.

Meanwhile the OEM small battery continues to work just fine so the charger is not an issue.

What is going on? Has anyone here tried these batteries or have suggestions for better ones... besides the $300 ones Sony sells?

I've used the services of Battery Refill, which replaces the cells on your old battery. It seems to work well, and the battery they swapped cells for is still running fine.

Thank you for sharing the information. This is good to know. I do have a few laptops, and will stay away from shady place like this one.

You're welcome. Interesting that I just found a review of the same product on Amazon.com that said his battery had lasted.... drum roll please... 2 months. Pretty consistent anyway.
