OK, back to the subject of OCing the 8800GTX SLI.
I have try to use what wardo suggest ntune 2.00.23, but it cannot be install. So I use the newest version of nTune from NVIDIA Version: 5.05.54.00. and it works great. The setting will not stay, but that is what I needed for jsut testing.
Here is the link: http://www.nvidia.com/object/ntune_5.05.54.00.html
It works great with the 174.31 from Dell support under performance test driver.
When I open up the M1730 and turn the CPU @3.4 with default out of box, 3DMark06 score: 14396. which is pretty good. But I alwasy wonder what will the score be when is OC. After I install all the applcaitions I need and re-run the 3Dmark06 score: 13698. That is a few hunderd drop.
I use nTune and turn the GPU speed to 630 core/ 950 mem, and I got the new score of 14492, which is 800 points increase from stock speed. The load temp still at low 60Cs due to the BIO default @ full speed all 3 fans (1 X CPU and 2 X GPU). @3.4 GHZ the CPU load temp around 80C.
I bet there are still room for improvement since we had the G92 core. Maybe there is only 800 gain from OCing, but in actual gaming, I was able to do Crysis @ 1920X1200 med/high and still smooth
I hope this information will helps for some of you like myself were looking for the answer. If you like, I don't mind to OCing a little higher to see the peak.
BTW, I forgot to mention. When you set CPU @3.4 GHz, all 3 fans were at max speed. This is actually good to cool down the GPU at low 60C. And remember to put something right under the lappy to increase air flow.
