cannot enable write caching on hdd and dma on dvdrw on acer 7720G

Thread Starter
Hi, i have recently bought a acer aspire 7720G, i have updated my drivers from acers site since getting it and when i have looked in the device manager i have noticed that it shows my hdd with the write caching box unticked, when i tick it and click ok, if i go back it still remains unticked, also my dvdrw drive also shows as enable dma as as unticked and again, if i tick it and go back in it remains unticked, will i be loosing a great deal of speed / performance with these like this, can does anyone know how i can fix it?
thanks
James

this is a "known" issue with intel matrix storage dirver and vista! Leave it off will not degrade ur comp's performance. Search xp and vista for disk write caching and u can see there is an ongoing discussion as which way would be best to use.

If u really have to have the write caching, then try uninstall intell storage driver, use the one from acer alone and see if it helps. Play also with SATA IDE Mode instead of NATIVE SATA AHCI setting and see. These r only suggestions!

cheers ...
