hmm... i must say it is still kind of expensive along with a undesirable 2x burn speed, but i would like to hear your feedback when you do get it.

Im going to wait for the prices to come down more... DVD burners use to be really high and now they are cheap so over time they will too...

Update-
Got the drive yesterday, and installed it, watched "I am legend". To be honest I couldnt really tell that much difference between the dvd/blu-ray on my 17" screen with 1920x1200 resolution. Blu-ray is clearer, and sharper, but is it really worthy of all the 1080p hype? Jury is still out on that one.(Still though I got 50 GB of storage if I ever want it on a rewritable disc! So that's cool.)

Here are the specs:

the only real difference you can see it probably the texture on clothes, deeper colors, and facial textures (makes your favorite stars look ugly lol)

I cant tell the difference from my upconvert HD DVD player and a Blu-ray player... maybe its just me but the difference is not worth the extra 5 bucks per DVD...

How big is the screen you're watching movies on? And is that screen capable of High Def?

I have new a 32 inch Samsung High Def flat screen so yea its capable of high def and really good picture...the upconvert DVD player does a terrific job of putting really close to High Def viewing and it whole lot cheaper than a $400 blu-ray player plus all the extra cost of the DVD's
