$799 off until Wednesday!

Midnight blue microsatin casing
15.4" ultra hi-res WUXGA 1920x1200 glossy display
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 (800MHz FSB/3MB cache)
4 GB memory (2 x 2 GB)
160 GB 5400 RPM hard drive
256 MB NVIDIA Ge Force 8600M GT dedicated graphics card
Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio ExpressCard
8X CD/DVD R/W
Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N wi-fi card
Integrated Dell Wireless Bluetooth
Extended life 9-cell battery
Windows Vista
2 year warranty

$1519.59 including tax and free shipping!

I placed an order for a vastly inferior version of the same system just 4 days ago for $1626! ( 2.0GHz processor, 3 GB of memory, the 128MB NVIDIA card, and integrated audio -- but with a 7200 RPM hard drive). I canceled my order the second I saw this deal and reordered. The only downside to this offer is that your hard drive options are limited to 5400 RPM or 250GB+ 7200 RPM for $200 more (I wanted to go with a smaller and cheaper 7200 RPM drive - 250GB is a waste for me).

Found the coupon here:

OK something really weird is going on today. First this $799 coupon appears out of the blue. So I canceled my order from 4 days ago and reordered, saving myself $100 and upgrading basically every component in the process. This was about 1:00PM today. Now, 5 hours later, I'm back on Dell's site looking at the $799 coupon offer again, and the prices of many individual components have been reduced! All of a sudden, the same system I configured earlier today is another $125 cheaper. I want to cancel and reorder again. Do you think they'll have anything to say about this?

The XPS1530 in my cart now has a 40% off discount. It was the $799, but when I refreshed my cart yesterday evening, it turned into 40% off. I am waiting for the Dell sales rep to get back to me with my quote. It will be the system that was posted above, but the 2.5ghz cpu, 250gb 7200 hdd, 3 year warranty with complete care, normal battery for $1400 shipped.

You shouldn't need to cancel. Just call them and tell them you want the price updated.

when you finish configuring it shout give you a quote number, call up and give them that and they should be able to change your order price to that quote

Funny that the consensus seems to be that they should just be able to update the price. I've talked to 3 different sales rep in the past couple days and they all told me that I needed to cancel the order and re-order. I've now canceled and re-ordered twice:

Original order 5 days ago
Cancel, re-order yesterday for 40% off
Cancel, re-order today b/c the price of individual components dropped even further

Anybody know how this will work? Does Dell bill your CC the moment you order (even though my order wasn't scheduled to ship for 3 weeks)? And if so, is it going to take them like a month to credit my account for the cancellation? I really don't want to get a credit card bill with charges for 3 laptops.

Here's what I finally ended up with this morning:

Tuxedo black casing (Flamingo pink is now available as option!)
15.4" ultra hi-res WUXGA 1920x1200 glossy display
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T8300 (800MHz FSB/3MB cache)
4 GB memory (2 x 2 GB)
250 GB 7200 RPM hard drive
256 MB NVIDIA Ge Force 8600M GT dedicated graphics card
Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio ExpressCard
8X CD/DVD R/W
Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N wi-fi card
Integrated Dell Wireless Bluetooth
Extended life 9-cell battery
Windows Vista
3 year warranty

$1,596.25 including tax and free shipping!

And the flamingo pink is a $15 upgrade from tuxedo black or microsatin midnight blue!
