XPS M1530 Processor Difference: T8100, T8300 and T9300

1. I am going to purchase DELL XPS M1530. I am a bit confused about the processor selection whether it is T8100, T8300 or the T9300.
What I think is there is not much difference between T8100 and T8300.
But between T8300 against T9300, is that make a lot of difference?
Because I read that the T8300 L2 Cache is half of T9300 which is 3 against 6 MB. And the price definitely far away of difference.
What should I buy for my configurations below to get the best performance?
Intel T8100 / T8300 / T9300 ?
4GB DDR-2 RAM
200 GB 7200 RPM Harddrive
GeForce 8600M GT 256 MB DDR-2
Intel Next-Gen Wireless
Bluetooth
LCD TrueLife TFT 1680x1050 15.4"

2. What LCD, harddrive and mainboard brand does DELL XPS M1530 use? How can I know what brands they are? and is it possible for me to choose my favorite brand?

Thank you very much.

I think Dell manufacturers their own motherboards. From recent threads on this board, I believe they used to use Samsung displays but have transitioned to LG. No idea what brand of hard drivesDell uses. Dell does not let you customize these components beyond choosing the size of the screen and size of the hard drive.

Regarding processor differences: my philosophy is always buy the 2nd or 3rd best speed/technology available at the time. You'll pay a disproportionately high premium for buying the absolute best. On the other hand, buying one or two steps below top of the line will guarantee more than adequate performance and prevent obsolescence.

Is that true that 3MB L2 Cache compared to 6MB L2 cache doesn't make too much difference? It means that we cannot even feel the difference in performance between those T8300 and T9300?

Which one is better? Samsung or LG?

Thank you very much.

I have no idea about the performance gap between the T8300 and T9300. Go to www.tomshardware.com and look for reviews and benchmark comparisons. Of course, even benchmark scores don't tell you everything. It is entirely possible that even though one chip is "faster" than the other, you won't notice any perceptible difference in running your day-to-day apps.

The earlier posts on this board indicate that the Samsung displays had a lot of problems and the LG displays were superior.

Dell manufactures nothing in the way of parts. They have a long list of OEM suppliers which handle that, just like most other brands. Their primary motherboard manufacturer is Foxconn. LCD is a mix of LG, Samsung, AU Optronics and some other Asian manufacturer. Slot drives are primarily Sony/NEC or TEAC for the 1530 and 1330. As you mention, part suppliers cannot be requested for your build.

OP: Search function is your best friend.

the t9300 is more than jsut a faster processor-- it also produces less heat, and uses less power. Head-to-head reviews of a t8x procesor vs. the same clock speed t9x processor yielded better results for the t9, an additional 20 minutes of battery life, and cooler running temps (forgot exactly how much).

If you can afford it, go for the t9300. I do agree that you don't need to get the fastest processor in that series (e.g., you don't need the t9500), but there is a night-and-day diffenrece between the 9000 series and 8000 series.
