It seems that Asustek in Hong Kong provided the reviewers of its EEE PC with a version containing a 5800mAh battery, while providing its customers with only a 4400mAh battery. The result being that the reviewers wrote their reviews including battery life, but normal consumers are unable to get the same results and are calling foul.
Asustek commented saying that the 4400 mAh battery is the standard with the 5800mAh battery being a later upgrade option, and that the 5800mAh models were sent to reviewers by mistake.
According to Digitimes, Asustek is currently evaluating procedures to do a replacement program. On this I must agree with Engadget
