M1710 vs M1730

Alright, I have a simple question.

If you had your choice of a M1710 (7950GTX) or a M1730 (Non-SLI 8700M GT) for the same price, which would you choose?

Obviously the better card is the 7950GTX, but the processor in the M1730 is better and it's the newer generation of course.

I know if we put them side-by-side and did benchmarks, the M1710 would probably be miles ahead, but just personal preference, which deal would YOU take?

I like my M1710 (once it works right). However if someone offered me a M1730 - I would take it, provided it did have the 8800

Processor speed isn't all that, its what bus its running on, how much cache it has, and etc.

Newer is not always better (ie 7950 vs 8700)

I miss my M170 It was smaller than many 15.4" laptops. And it's battery Life was amazing. And I also miss that brushed metal that looked kickass while my M1730 looks like a cheap pimped out 85' Deville

I will get the M1730. The M1710 is good, but you have reach the end. M1730 still with room to expand. I mean feature wise. Better CPU, GPU, RAID, 2 HDs...etc of course, better LCD. The M1710 screen has better quality, but M1730 LCD is more vivid colors.

I using my M1730 as desktop replacement, so I don't need battery life or portability.

I also don't have to bother to think about upgrading in next year or two, save me the trouble in making what to get. So I just getting the top of line model on CPU and GPU..etc. Hope this helps.

I bought my M1730 for $3k and sold the M1710 for $1k, and for $2k upgrade with 3 years warranty and Complete Care which is a good investment. I love it when I play games
