tinyXP platinum 2 on an asus laptop. yay or nay?

hi.

so, after doing some reading and wanting to squeeze as much juice form my notebook as possible, i started thinking about installing tinyXP platinum, instead of vista ultimate x68 i am running now.

i have used tinyXP on my old dual-boot desktop and that went great.

now i have to main uses for this notebook.

1. your regular internet stuff and a bit of gaming (world of warcarft)
2. audio work. production, editing, performing live, field recording etc.

thing is i need the most i can get out of my dual core t2730 and 2gb of ram, and the bloatware vista installs is something i can easily rid of. now i also want to be able to play and surf the net.

do i make a dual boot system? tinyXP for music / vista for gaming, internet? or do i just stick to vista?

mind you, i've not had any problems, but i'd hate it to happen when playing live, or in a middle of a project i forgot to save since 3 hours ago.

thanks for any input.

dual boot is cool. U alone can determine how the performances would be, using ur own environment (setup and configuration)

cheers ...

i was wondering... would downgrading to xp (tiny one as i said in my first post) have a beneficial effect on the framerate in world of warcraft seeing as vista needs a crapload of ram?

i've talked ot people with less good systems, running xp and having twice the fps i am getting... so i would say yes...

what say ye, oh wise ones?

Although there are some who say that with SP1, Vista has caught up with XP in gaming, all the info I've seen says that XP still has better gaming performance.

thanks for your reply. anyone else, with more to add?

it's a pain having to spend a whole afternoon installing xp and drivers, especially since all i read about is how hard, if not almost impossible is to find xp drivers for my laptop, then coming home from work the next day only to have to install some more and do tweaks and then come the third day, that i can finally get on with my life.

that's why i need a few more answers before i start the dreadful os re-install procedure.

hi dumimare,

i suggest you should stick to vista but vlite it/optimize it if your not having trouble with the os.
