When it will become available the 4870 X2 will hit the market for $499.

Our sources indicate that the launch is only weeks away, so expect your usual hardware sites to feature dozens of reviews of 4850 and 4870 with GDDR5 memory, since this memory type will be a hot topic in months to come.
But....

ATI’s RV770 will be rated at a fill rate of 20.8-27.2 GTexel/s (excluding X2 version), which is on the lower end of the GeForce 9 series (9600 GT: 20.8; 9800 GTX: 43.2 9800 GX2: 76.8).
Interesting read, lots of headroom for overclocking

Flagship dual-GPU 4870 X2 cards will include 2048 GB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 1.73 GHz. The Radeon HD 4870 X2 will be introduced at a later date (and could see spec revisions).

ZX81 your sig breaks the forums post boxes for me. So check the box. Intresting but way out of my price range.

The news-posting rules are there for a reason. News posts are now featured on the NBF home page. It can really jack up the home page if you don't format properly.

i want a 1gb bit interface. 256 bit sux. nvidia once had a 512bit interface and i figured with pci-xpress 2.0 it would just keep rising...

gddr5 doesn't need a higher memory bus though. amd knows what they're doing.

ahh, ok minimised it too

I'm stubbornly on the old style. I don't like the new style - too bright

OK - Been reading that they [ATI] will start releasing some of the new GPUs on 1 May. Can anyone confirm?

Alot. This is just the 4870, just imagine what the X2 will do.
