XPS 1530 9 cell battery: Is it worth it?

I'm getting ready to order my XPS1530, waiting for the screen issue to be sorted out, hoping to hear that the Samsung has been dropped in favour of the LG.

On my current laptop, an Inspiron 8600 I have the 2nd modular bay battery to give me extra uptime when on the move. As the 1530 doesn't have this option I've been thinking about the 9 cell battery. Now in all the places I might be when I buy it, the UK, India or Singapore a 9 cell costs an extra 100 pounds (200 US$) over the 6 cell. This seems a lot extra to pay for an unknown quantity of extra uptime, I don't think I should assume I get a straight 50% more.

Has anybody any experience with the 9 Cell?

I've been using the 9-cell with my Inspiron 6000 15.4" for the past 3 years. When I first got it, I could get 4 hours of use with the brightness cranked all the way up and my wireless card on, or up to 5 hours with wireless turned off and the screen slightly dimmed. After about 2 years the life of the battery had diminished significantly so I was only getting a maximum of 2 to 2.5 hours. I bought a new battery and it has been slowly deteriorating over the past year. I'm getting a little over 3 hours out if it now, which is probably where I was at with my last battery after a year. I don't have any experience with the 6-cell, so I can't give you a relative comparison. But I just ordered a new XPS M1530 earlier this week and the 9-cell battery was an absolute must for me.

I rarely use my machine off of AC power to begin with, so I haven't used my 9-cell battery. its just been sitting on my shelf since I finished charging it. I got an ~4 hours estimate from it initially though

Im getting around 4 1/2 hrs out of mine..XPS1530...more than I need. I am not away from power that long. Might get the 6 cell just to make this thing a bit lighter

Thanks for the info, 4 hours sounds great. For some reason, in Asia, ordering the 9 cell battery adds 3-4 weeks to delivery.

Are the batteries the same physical size?

THey are for my Inspiron 6000, but the 9-cell battery for the M1530 is larger and actually juts out a little bit from the case.

I'm also considering buying the 9 cell for an XPS M1530. How long will it hold a charge if I just charge it up and carry it as a spare?

I got one on eBay for $89. Works like a dream. You should check there.
