Disassembling, cleaning and applying AS to the GPU of 5720

Can i find some info on this? My 5720 started acting like crazy, i had artifacts, LCD dying out and eventually a BSOD.

I had to unmount the far left heatsing in order to clean a ton of dust that gathered near the exhaust but the entire gpu seems way to complicated for me to fiddle with it.

I figured it out, i disassembled everything, and i've applied artic silver to both the cpu and gpu, but i'm still seeing artifacts.

Is my gpu toast?

The moment something appears on screen, like the self test or the sager logo, i see green spots. Then, since i went into safe mode and it started listing all the drivers, i see huge green rectangles instead of letters on roughly 25% of the screen.

When it boots to win it shows a lot of spots all over the screen...

It's hard to say for certain. I had this happen to me on an ATi 9700Pro once and I returned it under warranty for a replacement. Definitely was a bad card and almost exactly the symptoms you described.

You can try hooking up an external monitor to see if the problem duplicates on it but my guess is that it will.

You can look on eBay for a replacement card. I see one with a starting bid of around $21 now. Good luck.
