Hi,

I have a Fujitu P1120 laptop, which was working fine until I had two technicians from Norton-Anti Virus install new anti-virus software, by taking over my computer and both technicians canceled during the live update part of the installation. Everytime I try to start my computer , I have been getting a message that saids that "Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this". Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get Windows XP operating system to run again? Thank you.

Hi,

Thank you for your response. I am getting the following message from Windows XP as it tries to reboot up. The message states"Windows could not start because of an error in the software. Please report this problem as: load needed DLLS for Kernel. I am also getting another message that states "invalid boot.INI file." I appreciate any suggestions that you can offer.

Hi,

Again, thank you for your suggestions. Yesterday, I received a Fujitsu floppy external disk drive, which was recommended by a Fujitsu technician, to install a DISE Disk software on a floppy disk, which was provided to me via e-mail by fujitsu technician. (Dise Image Special Edition), is a program installed on Fujitsu that contains the Windows XP operating system. Unfortunately, it turns out that the DISE program file that comes installed with the Fujitsu P1120 series, was damaged or missing because of the cancellation of the installation of the norton virus product that was done by two norton technicians. I was told by the fujitsu technician, who assisting me with this issue, that I have two choices: One is to buy a Windows XP Home Edition Full Edition Cd or to get a Fujitsu internal hard drive, which has the windows xp operating system built into it. I would appreciate your suggestions about which choice to make. The Winows XP home Edition Cd is about $200.00 and the fujitsu internal hard drive costs about $115.00 Again, thank you for assistance.

they won't send you a restore disk for a few bucks? If that's what they said, It'd tick me off.

If those really are your only two options I wouldn't have to think about it very long. get the hard drive with windows on it, and use part of the $85 you save to get a 2.5" enclosure for your current drive. once you have your data transfered to your new drive you can wipe the old one and use it for external storage/backup.
