5720-- purple line

Hey =/

Last night I was up late working on some stuff.. and I went to shut down my computer. As it was shutting down, I noticed a vertical purple line on the monitor. So I freaked out and turned it back on to see if it was still there. It was =(

So I woke up this morning and turned it on, and I got an error message about how "Windows failed to start normally" It booted up with the purple line there the whole time =/

Does this mean something in my screen is dead?
Is there a way to fix it?

It's basically just like a 1px wide line all the way down my screen. You can't see it well on light colours. But on darker ones you can.

This is a really nice background. Is it from green colorize net? Sorry for the digression.

Pailhead: I'm not quite sure.. I picked it up a while back. I'm pretty sure I got it from Deviant-Art.. I'll do a couple searches and get back to ya =D

I'm on my desktop and realized that I can't see the purple line in the screenshot. lol. Iunno why not.. but It's where the arrow is.. all the way up and down the screen. =(

There is probably a problem with the screen itself then. You should probably look into getting it serviced with Sager.

I find it interesting that the computer has trouble booting. It makes sense that the line wont' show up in the screenshot since it's a hardware problem and the screenshot is simply grabbing a digital image from video memory, not like taking an actual picture of your screen.

My first thought would be a power supply issue. Have you tried booting with the computer on battery power alone or plugged in without a battery installed? Is your computer properly grounded when you run it?

It could be something to do with the component in your PC that is responsible for regulating power and charging the battery. I'm guessing this because you seem to be having multiple failures and power supply is a good place to start when you have multiple simultaneous failures. If your screen was just bad it probably wouldn't affect the system's ability to boot into Windows.

I've seen a purple line down an LCD before and that is not good.

I don't know what else to do.

It's been starting up more often.. but occasionally it still beeps or freezes on startup. But just the other day, the 'down arrow' key has started flipping out and randomly turns and sticks itself on. So I've had to turn that key off. lol.
I've had it start up with with and without the power cable.. It starts up both ways. It also fails the same both ways.

The computer has been throttling the FPS down like crazy after a few minutes in most games.. too... Everyone keeps insisting that it's overheating.. but it's not.
I've un-installed drivers.. reinstalled new ones.. I've defragged.. I've cleaned the dust out. The only thing I could think of is that something hardware wise is faulting.

I keep calling Sager's Tech Support.. but I keep getting an answering machine...
I e-mailed their tech support about a week ago and have yet to get a response...

I'm still under warranty.. I want to get this thing fixed so bad. It's like my life, and my desktop computer is about 5 years old and on it's last stretch. haha.

Is there anywhere else I can take it to get it fixed? It doesn't seem like Sager is interested. lol

So, I called Sager again.

I got a tech support guy.. and he told me that it's probably overheating. I explained to him what I have done to ensure that it isn't and he said that it could be the video card itself.

He said that my warranty was still good.. but that I could send my laptop to Sager.. and that they would charge me $45 to look at it. Then, once they found the problem they would call me and give me a 'quotation' (i think he meant quote). He kept saying they would "refurbish" the video card because they don't make it anymore..
Doesn't being under warranty mean that they replace the parts for free?

He was kinda hard to understand.. I had to ask him to repeat a bunch of stuff and felt bad =/
I think I'm going to call back again tomorrow and see if I can get someone who speaks a little better so I can hopefully understand this process.
