MT3707 wont boot

Hi all. I read some other posts about installing windows xp on the gateway mt3707 notebook and figured i would give it a try. I installed the initial blue screen segment and formatted my vista hard drive partition but could not get to the actual installation of windows xp...

Heres a breakdown of the madness...After extracting the installation files and restarting I get past the bios boot screen but am immediately greeted with this message:

"A disk read error occurred Press Ctrl+alt+del to restart"

And after I restart the same message is displayed each time.

Also I am never given the option to do a system install from the recovery partition which I did not format, and was counting on as a failsafe is anything did go wrong.

My assumption is that I fried the hard drive when i formatted it, which seems a bit ridiculous seeing as the PC is fairly new.

Let me know what u all think or if u have come upon this issue and know of a fix for it. Thanks Alot!

That was the first thought I had too, but no didn't do anything. Also since posting I've tried installing 2 separate versions of XP on the machine thinking my OS disks were bad but the issue remains the same.

And thanks again for your help!

my next suggestion would be download some sort of tool to test the drive, or replace it

cheers ...
