9 series mobile cards?

So at the moment the most powerful single card is the 8800gtx 512mb correct? It has been out for quite sometime now. I know that some 9 series cards have been released for laptops but have no where near the power of the 8800.

What current 9 series desktop card would have to be released for laptops to out power the 8800? Also when do you think the new card would be released.? I know its all kinda speculation at this point but just curious what people think as I may wanna buy a new laptop in a few months.

Thx.

The high end 9 series cards will probably be released 2 half of next year or early 2010 just because the 8 series just came out not long ago compared to the aging 8800 GTX for desktops. Also they will probably make it more power than the 8800m GTX just to attract buyers

I'd expect everything to come out at around the same time. The excuse for delaying the 8800m was that a smaller chip fab was needed for the new architecture due to power/heat reasons. The 9 series is just an evolution of the 8 series architecture so I'm guessing that excuse no longer applies. Since I suspect the high end 9700m to be comparable to the 8800m, there would be no reason not to release the 9800m as well.

As for when they will be released, it seems the part ID's have appeared in beta drivers about a month ago and a 3 month lag between desktop and laptop parts seems to be about average. Therefore the new mobile GPU's will probably start showing up @ about the same time as the Centrino 2 laptops: late June/early July of this year I'm guessing.
