My daughter's laptop was slowing down and rather than hunt, peck and tweak I decided to back it up and scratch load.
When I put the resource CD in it displayed the error "WRONG MACHINE". This meant that the model in the bios differed from the model the resource CD expected. Since I had done the scratch load twice before I was sure it was due to the new motherboard Toshiba had put in when the power supply broke.
Called Toshiba support and was told to download the DMI update tool - but the instructions for creating the boot disk where wrong. When I called back and asked for additional support I was told that the laptop was out of warranty and additional support would be fee based.
I pointed out that the repair that caused the issue was done IN WARRANTY to no avail.
I have been in the business 25 years - If I charged my clients for fixing what I myself broke I wouldn't have been in the business 25 minutes.
Some folks might say that postings of this sort are numerous because people only post when they are unhappy. In my case - not true. I have plenty of "atta-boy" postings out there for those deserving.
I should also mention that this issuse is well documented SINCE 2003 AS A TOSHIBA CAUSED ERROR.
Will I purchase from Toshiba in the future - of course not. Should you?
