Getting rid of RAID

Thread Starter
Hope this is the proper forum:
When I ordered the 9860 I had RAID installed.Seemed like a good idea at the time.
Now I think I would rather have two seperate hard drives ie,C: and D: or ?.
I would appreciarte a how to from the experts here on how to get rid of RAID.
I have forgotten if it's RAID 1 or 2.It copies everything from C: to the other drive.

On boot up it checks the "ARRAY"..is this where I "unhook raid".
Thanks for any help...

there is an option in your bios that turns RAID on and off.. however i'm not too sure how that will affect your striping if you've already been using it...

You're using RAID 1: mirror configuration. Clevo's users manual for the D900T describes how to destroy and rebuild the array via the HD controller BIOS.

I suspect that destroying your existing array will cause you to have to reformat the drives before you can use them again, but I'm not sure. Since you're using the mirrored config, you may be able to simply switch to ATA mode in the system BIOS and boot up from the primary drive -- dunno myself since I've never RAID'ed before. If nobody here can confirm, then you could ask Sager tech support. In any case, I'd recommend backing up your data on an external drive or networked computer before doing anything to your RAID configuration.
