Again not likely. I dont know what hdd interface your dell has or how old it is.
My suspicion is that its an IDE drive. In which case, it prolly wont work in todays AW's cuz they are all sata afaik. That said, even if it is a sata drive in your dell, there is no guaruntee itll work in an AW laptop say a year from now just b/c there will be a new drive interface on the horizon making current sata drives unable to be installed. Of course thats just speculation, but as a whole, the computer industry moves pretty quick and especially lately, its common anything 2 years old is considered dinosaur technology.
My suggestion is replace the drive in your dell if you want, when u decide to get a new laptop, the drive issue will most likely be an obsolete question.
If your planning on 1-2 years before u buy an AW u very well may see the solid state drive take off, with higher capacities, better performance, and lower prices, that make even real good drives today very obsolete.
