Hello,

Has anyone ever upgraded their GPU in their m9750 to a 8800m GTX?
What model should I get and where?

Thanks!
Victor

I doubt it. I don't even know where you could get an 8800GTX

They might get a better batch of 8800gtx cards, but...

We would love to say you can simply toss this card in most MXM notebooks out there, but reality is a bit more bleak. This card will work in Clevo M570RU/M571RU notebooks and none other.

We also ship to the US, price is 635 , express shipping included.
That and they're $990 USD each.

What you might be able to do is buy a card from alienware by phone.

thats if alienware will sell you one since he has a m9750 and not a m15x or m17x when it comes out...they may not since they will say we have not tested it and dont warrant the component added on...

Yeah I think us 9750 owners are screwed for the 8800gtx cards
post #7 of 38
if someone with a m15x had a m9750 and tried to swap cards as long as they are the same MXM III and see if they work would be great...Knowing how things happen they will tell us that only new laptops will have the 8800 cards in it...

I'd be down for it if you put in writing that you'd pay for all damages if my card breaks.

I would do it if I had a m15x in my hand... as long as they are the same MXM it shouldnt mess anything up to see if it will show a 8800 in the m9750...

I think we need to make a thread named Alienware we want 8800 cards for the m9750...

Question:
Will the Area 51 m9750 ever support the Geforce 8800m graphics card? If no, is this because of a technical limitation or a corporate decision?
Answer:
No, due to technical limitations. For those who are looking for the GeForce 8800m, we have the Area-51 m17x now available.

Where?

And compare the 8800m GTX's voltage and thermal profile to a 7950's. If they're similar, AW is BSing you.

They're both MXM III cards. Then again, it might be a "special" MXM like clevo tends to use.

from what I have looked at with specs they are the same as the 7950s which I dont understand why it wont work unless the cooling system cant handle it for some reason...I think they want us to buy new computers to get the 8800 cards instead of having it as an upgrade since you can buy a m9750 alot cheaper and if you could get a 8800 card in it then I think some people would buy it over the new m17x since the price is so much higher...

I just searched up "8800m" on Amazon and it came up:
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_e?...keywords=8800m

But it doesn't mention 8800m anywhere in the page, so I don't even know if it's really a 8800m

That's an 8600.

Asus C90S's come with 8600s.
