A quick search yields that I and everyone else with this sweet laptop are having the same battery problems. Type KD476 9 cell 85Whr etc.
CLIFFNOTES: Should I just get a new battery and deal with it?
My mom has a 6000 and oddly enough...her battery doesnt fit, despite how identical it is. It was also made in Japan instead of Korea and hasnt ever needed replacement. This is disappointing as I love my laptop (except for the GeForce 7300 Turbocache) but I hadnt known about the battery life issue.
I've done all sorts of things to prolong battery life, however these were all in vain now I see.
What I'd REALLY like to do is throw new parts at my old Dimension B110; if I could throw 2 gigs of RAM at it, a sweet new vid card, and just get an external HD (it has either 40 GB or 80 GB...) since I already have the chassis etc.
Money, obviously, is a factor that may stop this from happening. Regardless, I use my laptop religiously for taking notes in class and occasionally as backup in case of sudden power outage
