Title says it all. Although I haven't played in the desktop field for over 3 years now I thought it would be fun to build a small htpc for the living room with the capacity to do some moderate gaming. I have a M1710 and haven't wanted to mess with desktops at home for a while but the thought of doing some gaming on the 50" DLP and a place to play all my music and video from is what I want.
First this is going in a small cube case. Mico ATX mobo is the only option for my space confines. What Micro ATX board is the way to go? Is Intel really that much better than AMD? I'll nly have 2 pci slots on the machine and one needs to be a sound card with Dolby Optical connection. I would like to be able to record HD from my satellite on this machine as well as do some gaming. Which vid card is recommended for the uses?
Let me know what your ideas are. Hardware suggestions are a plus for me. Again I have had laptops for the past three years. Don't know much about the desktops. I imagine that in a small cube case heat is going to be a factor. kepp that in mind when suggesting hardware.
