Well I just received my new xps 1530.
I have a couple issues with it already and have only had it for a couple hours.

1. The black plastic around the camera seems to have popped out and moves in and out.
anyone else's do that? is it something I am just going to have to accept?

2. The heat man this thing gets hot.

3. I cant figure out for the life of me to change what happens when I close the lid. I dont want it to go into sleep mode...
haha o.k. I figured this one out...

4. Should I get the 64 bit version of vista? I do have 4gb 2.4 15.4 inch Wide Screen WXGA+ TrueLife LCD 1440x900

Greatly appreciate any response, Thanks!

Oh yeah I ordered it on 4/12 was told it would ship the 21st then on the 21st was told it would not ship till the 28th then two days after the 21st it shipped and I got it today the 28th.
Just to answer someone else's question.

I'm still waiting for my M1530 so I have no answers for you, but I'm curious to hear everyone's thoughts on going 64-bit. As far as I can tell, that is the only reason for upgrading from XP to Vista (unless you're particularly enamored with Vista's GUI enhancements). From what I"ve read, 64-bit processing only yields enhanced performance for a narrow subset of math intensive physics, engineering, or database apps. Also, there are backwards compatibility issues because you can't run 16-bit code at all, which is apparently still prevalent in installation applets.

I ordered mine a week ago and my ship date is 5/23. I was hoping it would ship early but hearing this, I'm worried it's not even going to ship on time! Did you get the 1920x1200 screen? That's what is holding mine up.

You also should get i8kFanGUI to control your fan speeds (you can set it up to change fan speeds based on temperatures, or just force the fans to high speed).
