D900T GPU upgrade question

Thread Starter
Greetings board! I have owned a M7700 Intel machine since Summer of 2005 and I guess I must be one of the lucky ones (knock on wood) with no real issues. My hard drives died on me a few months ago but that was an easy fix with a run to micro-center.

Now I want to upgrade my graphics card for the upcoming game Age of Conan and I'm not sure what I can get or where I can get it. I currently have the GeForce 6800 GO. I remember bumping into the card in the machine when I was replacing the hard drives and it didn't look like rocket science to pull out, just need a gentle wave in the direction on where I need to go to get the new one.

Thanks!!

Well, if you want to do an upgrade you will need to know what version of motherboard you have A or B *none of the numbers/letters are pure fact but its the general idea*. The reason for this is the power consumption by the 7800? *I think thats the upgrade card* is more/less then whats provided by the A board.

I think theres a link on how to find the mobo version on alienware support...
Here - Or search AW Support for "m7700 motherboard version

In the end you will need the newest version, which I know is a "B" board.
