Good day everyone,
I found this site while researching on how to fix my problem and hope that someone has information that could better guide me to resolve the current problem I am facing.
First some information:
Aurora M9700 laptop under AlienCare 3 year plan.
While using the laptop, a small flame came from the power adapter. The cord that connects the power adapter to the laptop sparked and flamed from the section that faces the adapter. The spark originated from the adapter itself so I believe there is probably a problem with these adapters.
I contacted Alienware in regards to warranty replacement for this adapter. I was indicated that the limited warranty had ran out (laptop is 18 months old). I inquired in regards to the AlienCare warranty I had purchased and was indicated that this warranty only covers technical support over the phone or upgrades. The page for this plan is actually misleading and lets you to believe that it extends the warranty.
Have a check for yourself

Well, I was directed to a store that sells this adapters for $180 which I think is too much for a power adapter. Anyone has information on how should I handle this problem?
