Alienware m15x VS. m17x

Hi @ u all ^^.New m17x already launched, have seen @ http://alienware.com/product_pages/n...l_default.aspx :thumbupWell, just compared m15x and m17x with the same settings ( hm, 512MB 8700M GT instead of 1x256MB 8600M GT: the one, which don't exactly match...).My result: m15x was 250 $ cheaper (of course) then m17x in nearly the same configuration. But, that is a point: would you claim the 15" one for 250$ less or still take this 17" one with SLI?I'm currently a happy Alienware m7700 user and just need some more powerbecause of ambitios 3D graphics development and (mobile) high-end gaming.THX for holding your position!

Take the 17 inch one. The 2 extra inches of screen would benefit you much more IMO.

If you're used to a 17" screen, I'd buy another unless you're unhappy. I think you'll be unhappy if you go from 17" to 15". Also, the 17" should pack a tad bit more power and upgradability.

Yeah, if you are used to a 17". It would be a big change. Especially regarding the sizes of the m15x and m17x.

Where's my 17" notebook that has SLI with top of the line cards, weighs less than 3 pounds, and has a battery life of 24 hours??

Wtf theres no computer that weighs less than 3 pounds and has top of the line cards in it... and a battery life of 24 hours... Your living in a dream world right now...

If you're used to carrying 17" mobile systems you should have no problem in carrying an m17x around, besides, the m17x is quite more expandable.

Some people (like myself) prefer smaller 14"-15" mobile systems for portability as they are easier to carry around and weight less. I know, we make a sacrifice between power and portability but those are the options when you really need to go for portability.

I agree my last system was the svelte one in my sig, I think the trimmest 17 cept the macbookpro. And even it was just big enuf to make portability a small nag every time I went to move it. So I my current pref is 15"

But if ASUS ever releases the XGamerStation, the 15x will shine like no other on an external monitor, coure u give up the native 17 screen, but the 15x has all the power under the hood paired w/ 2 desktop SLI cards OMFG!!!!

Someday, though.... someday....

If you like the the bigger screen then the m17x will be your choice. It weights 2lbs less than the m7700. It comes with dual video cards by default. Unfortunately, single video configuration is not available for this machine.

the only problem with the m17x is you have to go SLI when you order there is no option for only one card... so if you go 8800 card you have to get two cards which runs the cost up alot...
