Hey everyone its been a while since I posted on these forums, anyways I bought a i 9300 a while back,a dn I havent used it for like a few months, but I came today to fire it up, and for some reason its not charging properly. The plug in teh back is messed up I think or soemthing, becasue it only starts to charge when i wiggle it around and if I hold it down to the left, it charges for a few minutes, but then stops.

i dont know what is wrong with this laotpo, hoenstly it's been nothign but problems with it since I boguht it, and Dell doesn't have the courtesy to do anything about it at all.

Any ideas/thought/suggestions?

First off what you are describing sounds like the AC connector has come lose from the motherboard. Before diagnosing it as that though, if you pull the battery does it run off the AC? Another possibility is that your battery is just bad and the charging corresponding to the wiggling is only coincidence. I suppose it could also be the power adapter's plug itself that's causing the problem.

If it is a problem with the connector the only remedy is to take it apart get a new connector and solder it to the MB.

yeah It's not teh charger or the battery, I took out the battery, and it still doesnt run...

I'm almost 99% sure it's the connector, the problem now is that I do not know
1- where to get a connector
2- how to take out teh old ocnnector, or take out the motehrboard.
3- im horrible at soldering!

is there liek any sort of guide with pictures that would help me on my endevour? Or better yet, is there someone I can just pay to do it for me?

can't anyone give me some help?

Well, if it's still under warranty you could call Dell and tell them you've diagnosed the problem. They won't help you with a battery or a power adapter at this point because those items are "disposable" and are only covered for one year after purchase, but the connector is not disposable and is covered for the lifetime of the warranty.

Other than that you can find the connector on ebay sometimes or get it from Dell spare parts. I don't know the part number off the top of my head. But even then you need to be fairly skilled to properly solder it (I am not). I've heard of people botching this solder job before.

eBay will have the connector you need. If you don't want to go that route, pay a repair shop to do it for you. Or, if a new motherboard can be had for cheap, just replace it.

honestly, like I would prefer a repair shop, and not dell, because Dell said that they arent even going to talk to me on the phone until I pay up, and I am horrible at soldering, so do you know any repair shops around illinois 60559 area?
