FullscreenViewportX = 1440
FullscreenViewportY = 900
MenuViewportX = 1440
MenuViewportY = 900

Then the menu and game run at your selected/custom resolution. You might also want to change the FOV from 90 to 106 under display settings in the game menu.

That worked... Thanks

No problem - i got my info from www.widescreengamingforum.com ... its a great resource for those of us who have 1440x900 resolutions.

dead pixel found. it only shows up on light backgrounds though. So i won't notice it as long as i keep my screen dark. which I will try to do. its in the lower right hand quadrant, about a 3rd the way into the center.

i've heard of people "rubbing" these out... is that recommended? what do *you* do when you find a dead pixel?

Ifrit, I've got the same brick, so yes, indeed, you do have the "older" brick.

Note how I said "SmallER" meaning it's smaller than the one that the 8790 ships out with right now. Yes the old brick may not be that small, but it IS smallER than the new one, which I prefer because it is smallER

testing sound right now through stereo speakers.

No interference noises of any kind. Sounds just like my normal PC. In the words of the footman of warcraft II: "Your Sound-Card Works Perfectly".

underclocked the 3.2 to 2.0 with clockgen ics952607. will see if it makes a difference in temp/fan noise.

post a review by the end of the week.

dead tired. >_<

ok.. down to 1.8 ....

the HD drops to about 46 degrees, and the "temp" rises to 50 slower, and drops back down to 40 faster.

so it does seem to make a tiny difference. ... its a lot cooler on the hands to type. the HD is *actually* cooler to the touch! you can tell!!

ok got the bios flash!

yeah this thing is keeping me up.. and keeping me away from my work... >_<

Now the fan is constantly on at a low speed, and the temp stays at a cool 38... really nice after 3 days of 40 to 50, 50 to 40, 40 to 50, 50 to 40.. u get the point. i dont know if thats very good for the CPU/computer either. With this new bios flash, my HD temp has dropped as well. its staying around 44.

Which is great because someone posted in these forums that 55 was the limit for these hitachi drives. so 10deg less has to be good for it.

now i've underclocked my CPU from 3.2 to 2.0 and i'm seeing if there is any difference in temp either with the HD or the motherboard.

I've found a bit of a defect near the edge of the LCD. It looks to have warped right near the edge. It looks like a bit of the LCD is under constant pressure near the edge. You know when you touch your LCD and it warps, kind of like water or paper? Thats how it looks near the edge... its very small and not that noticeable, but.... well it is noticeable. i'll try to capture it with my camera.

and see what you guys think. 1 dead pixel and now this.

I think its ok though. not really worried about it.

edit: within 5 mins of underclocking, the motherboard temp dropped 1 degree, and is holding steady at 37. the HD temp has dropped 2 degrees, and his holding steady at 42. i can really feel the difference.

ouch..i hate to say it..but well...i'll just wait for the pic...
i'm just thinking that the constant pressure could eventually just kill the entire corner of the screen....ugh \
good luck

ok i took some pics of the small "defect". see if you can pick it out in these pics.

anyone see it?

hmm. upon looking at those pics, maybe i should've cleared my search string before i took them. heh. >_<
post #33 of 40
i dont think i see it..is it dead in the corner..or maybe 2 inches to the left...
post #34 of 40
when i say dead, i mean, right in the corner, or to the left of the corner..sorry, bad choice of words!

its to the left of the corner. the blue goes a little bit darker.... >_<

ok here it is:

you can see it most clearly in the 4th pic i think.
post #38 of 40
yeah, i can see it..i saw it in every pic...itlooks more like a fingerprint on the edge....hmmmm if it appeard after 6 mo's or a year, i'd say it can be dealt with easier...but if this thing is new....and u probably spent $2k+ already.....i dont know if i'd want an imperfection like that so quickly.....as much as it hurts.....

make sure u tell em it's a defect and to fix it for the next guy tho! i dont want to get ur return when i order mine in a few weeks! hehehe

good luck!

I actually called Sager for an RMA number and I asked them if all of the 8790s that shipped out are new or refurbished. They said that all of them are brand new and that no one has previously owned them.
post #40 of 40
That doesn't look very noticeable, it's not like your face is going to be a millimeter from the screen . I'd take that over a dark blue dead pixel.
