Help With Bad Graphical Performance XPS M1210

Hey guys,

Recently I've been having really bad graphical performance with my XPS M1210. It just doesn't seem to handle graphics well anymore. I've been getting 4-10 fps in games like counter strike, americas army, swat 4, etc (only when I play online though) Occassionally this is interspersed with spikes of 40-60 fps but overall its pretty bad. I'm not sure what is wrong and I hope you guys can help.

My stats:
2.0ghz core 2 duo
windows vista 32 bit
2 gb ram
Nvidia geforce 7400go driver version: 7.15.11.7431

I've been able to play games like crysis before on this laptop with better performance(albeit not great but playable) so this is coming as quite a surprise. Thanks in advance!

Uninstall and re-install your video card drivers.

You also want to set all graphical settings back to default in both Display Properties and in-game. You may have forced an anti-aliasing or anisotropic filtering setting somewhere, and that would kill performance.

Lastly, make sure that you close down all background programs before trying to run the game. Vista eats up 2GB pretty quickly.

Check the specifications of your entire system.
Any bottleneck in the system can result in poor performance.

For instance, if you have a low amount of ram, but a high end graphics processor, the displayed images can still be slowed by the lower specs of the system.

Your system looks adequate to run most games with no issue.

If you reload the graphics driver and still have issues, check to see what programs are running in the background. They may be hogging your ram capacity. plus you may find malware running that could be using your memory as well.
