The machine arrived on Tuesday the 13th and so far I've been nothing but pleased. It's an absolute beast, it's huge, FAST and suprisingly quiet. No dead pixels or flaws with the LCD and no issues with the keyboard. The machine has been running almost continually since it's arrival, with only a few restarts. Basically no problems as of yet.

The only issue that I had in the progress is that I wasn't sent the DVI dongle in the first shipment, but after a email to Tom @ PCtorque it's on its way.

And here's one to show how thick this thing is:

Nice! Thanks for the pics. It's always nice to see good pics.

what's the battery length for a full charge? (no dual battery or spare battery or plugged in aor anything like that; just one battery charge?) I'm interested in a 56xx or 8890 in the next while and i'm comparison shopping: i heard 56xx has horrible battery length but evrythingelse rocks, but haven't heard to much about 8890 due to it's recent release.

Holy heck that's thick! I was maybe considering an 8890, but that's almost twice as thick as my old Toshiba Satellite, and I often used my Satellite for weight lifting (okay not really). I'll stick with the thinner centrino models, thanks.

Great pics. Thanks verdad!

Battery life is averaging about 1.25 to 1.5 hour on mine. But I use it mostly in AC mode anyway.

As for size/weight, this was not as much a concern for me as this system was going to be semi-mobile (say to the occasional game convention and perhaps to the more remote offices at work). Most of the rest of the time it will sit at home in the same spot, and will eventually replace my desktop for real (still saving money to spend on a really nice external LCD).

Curt,
Enjoyed the post on your new 8890. I'm new to this site and have been doing some reading. I will soon be replacing my 5 year old Thinkpad, my grandson will get it for his High School Graduation. I'm retired and teach classes for ole folks at UAH in Huntsville Alabama. You can see my handouts at http://mywebpages.comcast.net/glennet/downloads.htm. What got me to the Sager was the numeric keypad. Then I found the 1600X1200 UXGA on the 8890. I'm heavy into Digital Camera stuff and always use my 19" Hitachi monitors at 800X600. Would you try your 8890 at 800X600 and tell me how it looks to you in relation to 1600X1200 and also what you think of the side viewing angle plus your thoughts on the display in general.
Thanks, Glenn

Glenn,
I took a few shots for you tonight to try and show the difference between the 1600 x 1200 and 800 x 600. The 800 x 600 is makes everything really big and really isn't my style, but it doesn't look bad, There's also a few angled shots that I took to try and show the angled viewing. The screen still look good in different positions and is perfect for what I use it for.

The 800 x 600 is HUGE compared to the 1600 x 1200:

Thanks Curt, that gives me a warm a fuzzy for making a buying decision.
