M17x 1440x900 resolution, skullcap, and montevina

Will the m17x have all of these? I like the 1440x900 resolution because then I can play crysis on max settings with mods, the skullcap looks better than the ripley, and the montevina will produce less heat and have wimax and mobile quadcore processors.

I would think that the 1440 x 900 res would be possible as well as the skullcap.
The Montevina may take an updated board.
You may have to wait a little while to find this out.
You could always contact AW and see what they have to say. Can't hurt to ask.

1) Screen Res- Not Likely, AW markets/builds for high end gaming- that target audience usually prefers high end res's, that said you can always run at 1440x900 w/o penalty (well except screen cost maybe)
2) Skullcap, Yes its coming, noone knows exactly when, but its coming
3) Monte: Not likely, or at least for a long while, they just released the Santa Rosa version, VERY unlikely they will refresh in 1 month after release w/ Montevenia

I asked sales rep about the resolution and skullcap and they couldnt tell me anything, I guess I could try asking about the montenvina chipset

Thanks AA for responding. I was not sure about the res, but I do agree with you. If they have not already offered it, they probably will not.
Isn't the Montevina take a new chipset? I haven't had the time to go research it myself yet.

Im a little muddy on what belongs to what, it may be the internal codename, not the marketed name but its like the centrino branding was chipset + chip + wifi card.

Just the next generation afaik.

And ... Alienware M15x is support skullcap design ?

yeah the m15x should have the skullcap design... I still dont know why it takes them that long to get the skullcap design considering its the iconic emblem of alienware on their laptops...its like taking out the L in Lexus...

Does anyone know, or could anyone find out if the m17X is expected to be getting Binary FX anytime soon? And before you jump down my throat, yes I would make the most extensive use of this feature possible.

I'd go with the m15x but I need the 1920x1200 resolution and would find the 15" screen much too small to see. Not to mention the screen is matte, which I dislike.

Will a clearview 1920x1200 screen be offered for the m15x? Thanks for anyone with insight into this.

the best thing for you to do is to call alienware and ask them your questions...
