I've been using this in my XPS Gen2 for the last 3 years. I took it out to send in my notebook for some repairs and they deemed it unrepairable and sent me a 1710 which uses a different interface.
I think I paid 60 or 80 bucks back when. The card works awesome, connects almost instantly and gets much better range than the Intel cards.
I believe it contains the Atheros AR5006 chip, but I'm not positive. Brand is Gigabyte.
Please note that it is MiniPCI, not PCI Express. It probably won't work with the newest laptops. Can send picture on request.
