18.4" Acer Aspire 8920G

Thread Starter
A month after it's announcement, Acer has sent the reviewers over at Laptop Magazine their newest offering the Aspire 8920G. The pics look very nice. The system looks to include Dual Hard Drives, BlueRay, 9650M, 6 in 1 card reader, 4 USB ports, HDMI, VGA, and Expresscard (No word on firewire). It also has this strange looking new fangled media console to the left of the keyboard. No word on pricing as yet.

Several pics and more details available at Laptop Magazine if you're interested.

Yes 18.4 and only 8 pounds.

I have the Acer 9810-6829 with a 20" screen and the screen probably weighs 12 pounds itself. I saw on SHopNBC on cable they were selling the 6920G which is the same computer as the 8920 but with a 16" screen. They were selling it for 1399 with a Blu-Ray disc. The selling point was you could connect it to your Large screen HDTV and watch Blu-Ray movies with a Web cam and reading email on your TV. I figured it would be more then 1399 so I bet the 8920 is less then 2000 and maybe around 1899.

Oh man. I'd love to see a review and pics if you have the time. That 20 inch screen must look amazing.

I love it. It's a great multi-media machine. It has HD-Dvd and not Blu-ray like the 8920.

here's a review from PC World

the model is discontinued but is still available for under 2300. But If I were buying I would buy the 8920G because it's new and the Blu-Ray.
