My XPS Gen 2 has had a faulty video card for the past 2 years. It developed at the end of my 1 year warranty, too late for me to get replaced. I did manage to get the fans/heatsink swapped, but I took too long in figuring out that overheating wasn't the whole problem...
Basically I must run my laptop in BALANCED mode in Nvidia control panel or it crashes when running a 3D intensive application. Temperature looks OK, and I do use FanGUI to put them up to full speed, and use a prop to lift the back of the laptop.
I later did an AS5 mod to the GPU/CPU, and the temperature looks decent. Never OC'd or anything either. But my GF6800 Go ultra always just dies
Oh well, works enough for most things at least :P
