URGENT: Deleted important files, my chances of recovering?

I accidently deleted a huge file (truecrypt encrypted backup) that was being used as my backup. The file size is 60 gigs, and i have a 160 gig hard drive, so i had over 20gigs of space remaining. I've restarted my computer several times and installed several 4mb programs, what are the chances of me recovering the file? If only one part of the 60 gig file is over written would that ruin my chances of finding the file? Any ideas? I've tried several recovery programs without any luck so far.

I accidently deleted the file when it asked if i wanted to permantly delete it since the file was so large, i hit yes on accident.

slim to zero chance of recovering a 60gigo file with 20gigi disk scpace remaining, unless u take the drive to some professional services

so if even a single byte is touched its impossible to find the file?
no, the byte can be touched times over, there is always a way to dig it out, unless u blew the hard drive to pieces. i was just pointed out the fact that u have on 20gigo left, and u wanted to restore a 60gigo file size, where it gonna land?

or u meant to restore the missing 60 gigo to another drive? - sure. as mentioned, professional services.

cheers ...

I might be able to help you as I have a similar problem myself which within the next 7 to 10 days I hope to have recovered... suggest not doing anything further to your hard drive if you can use another & I'll keep you posted on my progress. SKR

I forgot to mention, you should never try to restore files to the source drive (of failure) but always use a separate hard drive (target drive) as - irrespective of how much space you have free, you run the risk of ruining your chances of 100% (or close to it) data recovery and can cause yourself further serious complications. Leave your original drive alone until you're ready with a separate (and often identical) target drive before attempting recovery operations.
