Current best cheapest gaming notebook?

I'm not sure where to post this so this looked like the best location.

In 2005 I bought a Dell Inspiron 9300. It was the notebook to get if you wanted to game and not spend a fortune. It came with a Intel Centrino 1.8gig proc, nvidia 6800nu video card and cost $1300.

It's held up very well but it can't handle todays games. Im thinking about getting a new one in the next couple of months and would like to spend around the same amount. What is the best bang for the buck gaming laptop people are buying now?

Look into the 17" Gateway series. They come with 8800 and around $1200.

I dont know much about the company or the product because they are a smaller name but i do know they are resold by Mtech who used to be resold by Alienware... both of which have great reseller ratings. www.pro-star.com give them a look... they have tons of options and configurable specs... becasue they are atleast waht appears to be tier 2 reseller they offer their products at a much lower cost. you just dont get all the "pretty" that you would with companies like Alienware/Dell.

I'll be buying one here pretty soon... (on the 15th)... i'll post a review here afterwards.

Dell Vostros 1500-1700's can be had with great hardware like 2.0 Ghz Core2Duo CPUs, Nvidia 8600GT video cards, 120GB HDD, DVD writer, 802.11G wireless card at about $1000.

Gateway 17" w/ 8800GTS from Bestbuy will give you the most bangs for the bucks IMO @ around 1300 bucks.
