No wireless networks were found in range. [Virus Related] [Satellite m45-s351]

Thread Starter

Hi, I have a Satellite that will cannot find any wireless networks, and I think it's virus related.

Opening Internet Explorer gives me a pop-up that reads:

Quote:
System Error!
Your system is infected with dangerous virus!
Note: Strongly Recommend to install antispyware program to clean your system and avoid total crash of your computer!

I need to dl AVG, adaware & spybot, but I cannot connect, so I have to troubleshoot the network to get online. I went to Toshiba.com to find a repair utility to maybe reinstall missing drivers or whatever the utilities do, but there were 42 downloads!

Then someone told me to get the Ultimate Boot CD, but that has so many options, I'm scared I'll break the PC!

Any ideas?

Thanks!

if you think your machine is infected do not connect it to the network/internet. use a friends computer to download avast and spybot search & destroy and adaware. transfer them to your computer with usb drive or CD, install and run.

Personally, if my computer was infected I'd save my data, and then wipe the drive and reinstall windows, but I'm paranoid, and a bit on the lazy side. running down and removing malware can be a royal pain.

You could always use your restore cd's to put it back into original configuration. I take it you were using the laptop with no Antivirus program.
If so, this is the mess that you get.
drlouis, dont know that getting and AV or antispyware program on the laptop now would do any good as there is no way to get the updates and the basic programs wont clean anything.
I would suggest what drlouis said about saving data and then wiping the drive and reinstall or using the restore cd's
