Can I upgrade the processer in my Gateway MX6920 lappy?

Is it possible to upgrade the processer (Intel T2050) to something faster on my Gateway MX6920 laptop?

You should be able to go up to T2700

Ooh, T2700 would be nice. How sure are you? ("Should" sometimes means "I'm guessing", after all. :-) I see that the T2700 uses the same socket, with the same voltage, but with a 25% faster FSB (667MHz instead of 533MHz). Might the motherboard not be able to cope with the faster FSB?

Has anybody here tried it? I'd rather not spend $200+ on a CPU that won't work.

$200 for a small increase in speed? Not me Put the money in the ram and a faster drive and be safe.

cheers ...

There is that. :-)

Mind you, I've already done that. I've replaced the RAM, the HD, and the DVD drive, and now I'm looking to replace the battery. I'm in serious grandfather's ax territory here; I might as well replace the CPU, too. :-)

Why do T2700 Core Duo when you can use Core 2 Duo? Yes your chipset will upclock to 667Mhz fsb with a 667Mhz CPU. That means you can even use 667Mhz RAM instead of 533Mhz. You have the Napa platform you can use any Core 2 Duo socket M CPU.

T7600 is the fastest 2.33Ghz 667Mhz fsb. 4MBL2
