Dear notebook experts you are .It's just a question out there about Alienware m5500 series. So, there are 2 types of them available:First one, (MJ-12?) m5500 with Pentium M and DDR-RAM in it, with i915GM-motherboard.Second one, (S4?) m5500i (R3) with Core2Duo and DDR2-RAM in it, with i945PM-mobo.The Question: is it possible to replace the old mobo of first one ((MJ-12?) m5500) withsome like that http://www.laptopking.com/kingpartde...ategory=boards , which normally includes the second one m5500i(R3)?Many thanks for replay, may be rly helpfull!

Not sure. I think it also depends on the chassis as well. Try it and see if it works. If not return it.

i believe the only difference in the MJ12 was the video card, so i believe you should okay if thats your only option

Many thanks for your replays . So, I should test it my way? Well, what is about an Area-51 m5500 with Pentium M, DDR2 & i915GM ( aka Uniwill 259EN3 )? Would a m5500i (R3) motherboard fit in it?Thx for some info .

Well,if I would trust this one:http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=118521 , the m5500 & m5550 mainboards are designed exactly the same way, but ... I distress myself about this PCMCIA slot on m5500. BTW, let check this out....
