Start-up problems Zepto Znote 6224W

Thread Starter
I recently bought a used Zepto Znote 6224W, was told it was working perfectly – that was sadly not the case. The problem is when turning it on.
It starts for 2 seconds then turn off again, I push the on button once more and it turns on for 2 seconds then turns off again, turns on again automatically, does this three or four times until it finally turns on and stays on. When it is inside windows it works perfectly.
If I turn it off and leave it off for two or three hours then turns it on again it works perfectly. If I leave it off for the night I am right back at the beginning, it won’t start until after app. four tries.
I have tried to flash the Bios, reinstall Windows, exchange the ram and harddrive, and obviously searched the web for any solutions but found none – any input greatly appreciated!

A little data about the Znote 6224:
T9300 processor, 4GB Kingston Value ram, 200GB Seagate Momentus 7200rpm., Vista 64bit.

It could be a few problems.

Firstly, did this notebook come with 64-bit Vista? Or was it installed afterwards?

It came without OS. Even without OS I experienced the problem... I installed Vista after a couple of days.

Then it very well could be a driver issue. Did you find drivers for all your components? What does your device manager look like?

Hm, already updated all the drivers and there are no yellow warnings in device manager. The funny thing is the computer restarts even before reaching the bios when booting up, it seems like something has to get warm before I can start up normally?!

Hi, your comment was written some time ago. I hope you will still read this message. Did you ever save the starting problem? I have the same problem now and I dont find anyone in the internet except you to discuss this. My zepto znote is only something like 3 years old and except for the little problem I hardly ever get it started its working perfectly well....hope to hear from you. Elsa

Have you tried with the battery out? Or even maybe with another ac adapter?

cheers ...

Hi, we tried everything... my brother has the same (just without problems) and I used his ac adapter ... nothing helps. I'll try now the bios battery ... but honestly I cannot imagine this changes anything.
If you have any other suggestions...?
Cheers

What happen if you hold down the power button for a bit longer after the light comes on? I was trying to gasp some air around possibility of connection failure before taking the machine apart. Reseat ram modules and hard drive?

When you insert the ac adaptor into the laptop...does it feel loose , or the power led winks?
just wonder if it might be the cpu heatsink
could be that the previous owner spilled something on it...maybe had it plugged in ac outlet, had a power surge, enough to upset the laptop. could be some other things, short circuit, loose power connector..

does it have the 8600m gt,,,you know nivida had problems with it

its sure a strange problem, and a tough one to solve

Hi there,
Did anyone find a solution?
I am experiencing exactly the same problem with my Zepto ZNote 3215W (=Compal FL91), which has an Intel Pentium Dual CPU T2390 @1,86 GHz 1,87GHz. In have been running Windows 7/32 bit without problems for a ½ year. The machine was born with Windows Vista.

Hi again,
I found a solution that worked for my machine (Zepto ZNote 3215W):
I deleted a compatible HP printerdriver (there were no original printerdriver for the exact printer). After that I have not experienced any startup problems.

Wow - first time (for anything) that I heard a printer driver causing non-start-up issue.

Good find, thanks for the update

cheers ...
