XPS M1210 Upgrades

Thread Starter
My current XPS has a T2500 in it (2Ghz). I am looking to upgrade it.

Question 1: Will a T7800 be compatible? I know the t7200 and t7600 are but at the same time I heard that the santa rosa chips are not compatible....Can anyone verify that? any does anyone know if the 7800 is santa rosa?

Question 2: the t2500 is 32 bit while the t7800 is 64 bit and I am running XP. Does that mean I will have to install a new operating system and what about all my programs (office?)?

Cheers, thanks ahead of time to all who reply.

No on the OS.
However, you should re-install the OS.
As far as the CPU...make sure you have the latest bios.
Asides from that the t7800 should fit.

Confirm what said above. The Operating system will be fine... it just means that you would have the ability to run a 64 bit operating system if you so choose, but 32-bit will run perfectly fine.

The CPU should work fine.
