Hi, I own a M6811 and I want to flash the BIOS to a newer version. Can someone point me to the latest version for this particular model?

Hey, thanks for the link. I tried to flash the NS5 version using winphlash v1.6.5.6 and v1.3 build 56, but it doesn't work. The hard-drive led blinks while it is supposedly flashing the BIOS and reboots the machine, but if I check the BIOS it's still the old version. :-(

NS5 is quite specific for the 7422 machines, why did u think u needed that?

I was under the impression it was the latest one in the NSF series. I also tried NSF04.P0, but no such luck. (Keep in mind that I already have the NSF03.P0 bios on it.) So which one _is_ the latest one? Can you point me at a specific file?

NSF04.P0 looks like the latest one for ur comp, according to ur description. Try this, back up ur current bios file, then compare to the latest one that u downloaded and see. It could well be that the site has the wrong version shown

cheers ...

Are you having problems with your laptop? No need to flash if you aren't.

You cannot flash an "NS" type bios to to the type of chip installed. You need to send the chip out to get reflashed or pay for a new one with the version you want. You can certainly use the NS.00.05 7422GX ~ 7426GX bios and it will be fine, however the operating system may not like the gateway name and make you reactivate.

There is no point in updating the emachines bios to the NSF04.P00, you will not gain a thing. Also make sure to verify your CURRENT bios has "NS" in its version number, if it does than you're fine.

The NS.00.05 lets you use the newest 3700+ and 4000+ newark core cpu's, it if you plan on upgrading.
