Dilemna! Dell XPS vs. acerM50

Thread Starter
Now, to begin this thread, I am canadian. This limits me to the number of stores I can buy from. Unfortunately, Newegg, which I would buy from every time if I could does not ship internationally . So if anyone knows if I could contact fed ex or something and somehow get a shipment to Canada please speak up!

I'm a student, and I'll be bringing this notebook to class, but I'm also looking to be able to play many of the recent games. So this again limits me to smaller, lighter, powerful notebooks. And yes, they are hard to come by.

Now the first notebook I was loooking isan Asus from pcconnection with the following specs:
Cen, C2D T9300 2.5ghz
3gb DDR2 SDRAM
250gb 5400 rpm
Nvidia GeForce 9500M GS (512mb dedicated)
And here comes the good parts: all with a 15" high res screen and under 7 pounds for 1,370.00$

Secondly, the dell xps 1530 has these specs:
C2D T7250 2.0 ghz
3gb DDR2 SDRAM
250gb 5400rpm
256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ 8600M GT
1440x900 high res screen
1.349.00$
Now the specs are alot worse on this one but it looks nice, is small and light and apparently according to some reviews is really well made.
Now this is my dilemna. Please help. The second one seems unreasonable to buy over the first, but for some reason I feel like the dell is a better investment. So again I'll take any recommendations on laptops at this price range. And please help me.

H4rbringer,

For International shipping from the U.S., some on Amazon.com use ARAMEX.
The way to ship items internationally is to open an account with "ARAMEX" and set the address to your international address, so when you buy something from New Egg, Amazon, etc. you should ship it to the Aramex account, which will be somewhere in the US, and they will ship it to you where ever you are in the world.

In a similar situation myself for deciding on which laptop. I ordered this Asus http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834220272 earlier, but from a different site for around $75 less US overall. It's actually about the same specs as the Asus you listed, but has a 320GB HDD and is a 14.1" screen. But I decided the slightly smaller 14.1" formfacter wasn't really much more portable then a 15.4" one, so I wanted more time to think it over.

I read that the 9500M was about the same performance as an 8600GT 512 GDDR2, but then I also read that the 8600GT 256 GDDR3 GPU's were much faster. I guess it is a toss up on a slightly faster GPU compared to a GPU that will give better battery life and give off less heat. But from user reviews I am reading on the Asus, the battery life is about the same as the Dell XPS 1530 with an 8600GT 256 GDDR3 GPU. And looking at 3Dmark06 scores between the Dell and Asus, would seem the Dell is @800+ points higher compared to the only Asus with a 9500M I saw that gave a result on these benches.

Personally, I am going with the Dell XPS M1530 with a T9300 GPU, 1920x1200 res on 15.4" screen and the 8600GT 256 GDDR3 GPU, not so much because I think it performs significantly better then the Asus 9500M , but because I like the way the XPS looks
