XPS 1730 Graphincs upgrade questions?

Hello to all and thanks to those which may help...

I recently had dell replace my 1710 which had a T7600 and 7900 GTX with a 1730 with a T9300 and 8700MGT SLI... I am looking to upgrading my graphics solution to the dual 8800M GTX's I found on ebay for around 1400..

My question is where else and if cheaper can I find the 8800?

Thanks again...

Dell spare parts.

Keep calling until you get the price of 850 ish. Few people from this forum succeeded, but you have to call them ALOT from what I've read.

Or

You can just call Dell and tell them that the 8700 SLI is inferior than the 7900GTX like so many have done on this forum.

Its XM888

I have been trying to get mine for nearly two weeks - seems to be a delay/issues. however I was promised it will finally ship tomorrow (the 9th), so we will see.

$1400 seems to be little high. You can buy pair of 9800GT2 1GB cards for less......

damn! 1400 would buy an xbox 360, ps3, and maybe have enough left over for a cheaper 32 inch hdtv!

$1,400!!! wow, I'm waiting till my 8700's are extinct

I'll send you mine for $1400 LOL and I'll pay the shipping. Just tell me where. LOL..

I'll be on the phone with dell shortly after with a graphics card failure issue..lol...

On a serious note, 1400 can buy a lot of stuff. You could build a nice desktop for that.

If the 8700 SLI was part of the replacement laptop, call customer care and let them have it and ask to be connected to REC escalations. I had the 8700 in my first M1730 replacement and after talking to REC I was sent the 8800GTX and the X9000 in a replacement. My biggest arguing point was that the 8700GT SLI only has a 128MB bus compared to my original 7950GTX 256MB bus. The 8800GTX had the same bus

This is assuming that the 7900GTX still has the 256MB bus also...

256 Bit Bus with 512MB ram

Then I think you should give customer care a call for sure!

awesome thanks for that, yeah i still have a i9300 so im looking to upgrade to the 1730 and trying to weigh my options for future gaming...grab one from outlet and then snag a 8800 whenever i have the chance

there are way to many outlet trolls in the m1730 area...but there is a healthy number of laptops that pop up every so often so id say id have to troll it as well to get a fresh canvas...

It's definitely easy to replace the cards, Dell laptops are quite user friendly.

Smooth J beat me to the linkage :[
