Together with the casing cracking round the back of the screens after 2 months use of a Sager, I think I'll stick with an Alienware. I guess you get what you pay for....
Not certain where this information was gathered, but neither of these items mentioned is indicative of reality. You might want to provide a bit of actual evidence for such a claim, if it indeed actually does exist. Mere conjecture or perceived issues would be rather inane to offer as fact.
The initial NP8790 display (WXGA+, 1440x900) was in fact the same display in a number of other machines, including the 17" Apple Powerbook. The newer display which only recently became available is now WSXGA+ (1680x1050). Some comparisons (including photographs of the two) are available here
. Neither of the above displays are reported to have any of the failings mentioned in the above referenced post - at least, not on this forum (the notebookforums.com forum, that is).
The only displays offered by Sager that suffered a high degree of banding were the 16" SXGA displays made by Sharp; however, that particular display has been discontinued for quite some time now (at the least, five to six months).
