Hello everyone

I just got an Acer AS5315 1.73GHz / 2GB / 80GB / DVD-rom-CDRW for my niece, but I want to repalce the DVD-ROM-CDRW combo drive with a DVD burner.
Firts of all, Can I replace it with any DVD brand, or has to be one that ONLY Acer compatible?
Then, how easy is to replace it. I'm good with PC Desktops, but never done a Laptop. I saw a video on YouTube, was easy but it was with a DELL Notepad.

Any tutorial o video that I can check it out???

Thank you

SanKev

I am reasonably new on this forum but I know that in Toshiba laptops, the optical drives must be purchased preset to Master. You cant change them after purchase. Maybe someone else on here can slide in with regards to what the preset must be in Acers. You do know, that in changing the optical drive, that you will undoubtedly void any warranty remaining on the laptop

Thank you saugen48
I know the warranty will be void once I change the driver. But the laptop is not staying with me, is going back to my niece country, where warranty doesn't matter.
This monday I'll take it to the dealer and ask him to change it.
Thank you again.
