Hi, I have a 9300 that is about 3 years old and its been having troubles lately. It all started during gaming when i heard a loud snap (like a short-circuit sound) from the underside of the laptop and the screen and mouse cursor froze and would not respond. I powered it down and when i attempted to start it back up the green power light came on along with the caps lock light for about 5 blinks and then both turned down and it makes a whirring down sort of sound. The screen remains black and it wont power up for a while. Later it began powering back on and working completely normally for about 10-20 minutes before everything freezes again and it refuses to power back up for a while. I figured it was an overheating problem so i took the whole thing apart and cleaned out the fans which had a thick layer of dust between them and the heat sinks. I also downloaded HMonitor to check the temps and fan speeds but it as my mainboard and cpu constantly between 28-35 degrees and the bottom has never felt all that hot. It says my chassis fan is alwasy going near max and usually says my cpu fan is going near max as well but sometimes it turns off for a bit. Ive been having the same problem constantly now for a week and its annoying to not be able to use it for more than 10 minutes without everything freezing. I've found that if i rest my laptop on top of my room fan and let it blow upwards onto the bottom it will work flawlessly without freezing. Id rather not have to keep it on the fan anytime i want to use it though so any ideas what might be wrong and what i can do about it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
