NBF MobileForce Beta Testers (BetaCircle) Application Thread

Thread Starter
What We're Currently in SERIOUS NEED of:
Those highlighted in RED are most important
  • Windows Vista / Windows 7 64-Bit Testers. THIS IS OUR HIGHEST PRIORITY!!!
  • Testers with notebooks utilizing NVIDIA SLI
  • Testers with BLEEDING EDGE videocards (ex. GeForce GTX 260M / 280M)
  • Testers with LOW-END videocards (ex. GeForce Go 6200 / GeForce G 105M)
  • Testers with Non-Dell laptops.

Do you want to help test the next MobileForce driver? Report bugs, issues, etc?

We're always looking for new testers, as it expands the level of hardware that can be tested on, to improve functionality, and (if WE can fix it) eliminate bugs.

If you're interested in becoming a tester, please post a reply to this thread, with the following information:

General Information about YOU, including:
  • How much of a history do you have with laptops, and would you consider yourself more of a novice, intermediate, or advanced user?
  • Are you experienced with upgrading drivers, and especially in the case of video drivers, do you know the proper methods to update a driver (Hint, there's a sticky in this very section that describes, in detail, the steps to take).
Some other good information we need to know in order to consider you is:
  • Your laptop model, including:
    • Your CPU type and speed, GPU (videocard) type, amount of RAM, and OS (Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7, 32-Bit or 64-Bit)
  • How much time are you willing, and are able to put forth, in order to help test the drivers?
  • What games you have that you can to do preliminary (before driver update, i.e. with the most recent official MobileForce driver, or in comparison to the "stock" LaptopVideo2Go variant) and post-update (after updating the driver to the new BETA MobileForce driver) benchmarks and evaluations (any noticeable "choppiness", GLARING bugs, and image quality are the key points)
ALL of this information is necessary for your approval into the NBF MobileForce BetaCircle, and missing some of it could lead you to not be considered.

If you want to be a Tester, please be aware that you'll need to actually be around to test the Beta, otherwise the entire purpose is pointless. We will notify you when a Beta is ready for testing, but it is expected that you are able to test it, unless you have some mitigating circumstance, we understand that LIFE comes first, but no-show testers are as good as no testers at all. We give you between 3-7 days (and this is decided upon entering Beta stage) to test, so there is some leeway.

Thank you for your application, and if you have any further questions, please feel free to send me a PM. If you are accepted into the BetaCircle Program, you will also be notified by PM.

Updated and cleaned.

General Information:
  • I've had my first personal laptop for 2 years now and have been tinkering with things ever since, I consider myself quite advanced in the field. I've been into many cooling methods, trying various aftermarket fans to enhance the airflow inside the notebook, recetly ordered 3 60mm fans to mod a cooling pad, been through various thermal grease, waiting for some ZM-STG2 to be shipped to try out.
  • I am experienced in upgrading drivers (have been through loads) as says in the sticky since I've learned from experience THAT is the best method to avoid complications. Been using modded drivers from various modders, since around Forceware 15x, been using NBF as of 16x but had to switch later for 17x from Alienware and 18x Dox/LV2G, back to NBF190.38 and loving it. So I decided to join, and give this a shot
Other Information:
  • Alienware Area-51 M9750:
    • CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 2.0GHz @ 2.2GHz
    • RAM: 4GB 5-5-5-15 667MHz @ 5-5-5-10 750MHz
    • GPU: nVidia GeForce GO 7950 GTX (Biosmodded since the clocks are now locked in new drivers, missing 169 from NBF :P)
    • Windows Vista 32-Bit
  • HP Pavillion G6000
    • CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 TK-57 @ 1.9GHz
    • RAM: 2GB 5-5-5-15 667MHz
    • GPU: nVidia GeForce 7000M
    • Windows Vista 32-Bit
  • Willing to put any available time in the testing of new drivers since it's always a pleasure even using them.
  • As for games and software I'd be able to run benchmarking software on the G6000 (it's my fathers laptop so I don't want to install games on it, bechmarking software would do since they don't take much space). As for the M9750 I can use any benchmark software requested along with games such as: World of Warcraft, Racedriver: GRID, Call of Duty 4, Call of Duty: World at War and will be able to acquire anything else requested.

Count me in:

General Information about YOU, including:

* How much of a history do you have with laptops, and would you consider yourself more of a novice, intermediate, or advanced user?

Advanced user. 10+ years with laptops and gaming system. I normally stay bleeding edge.

* Are you experienced with upgrading drivers, and especially in the case of video drivers, do you know the proper methods to update a driver (Hint, there's a sticky in this very section that describes, in detail, the steps to take).

Yes.

Some other good information we need to know in order to consider you is:

* Your laptop model, including:
o Your CPU type and speed, GPU (videocard) type, amount of RAM, and OS (Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7, 32-Bit or 64-Bit)

Still waiting on delivery but here's what is coming: Alienware M17x, QX9300, Crossfire ATi 4870 GDDR5, 4GB memory, Vista 64bit but I also have access to Win 7 64bit.

* How much time are you willing, and are able to put forth, in order to help test the drivers?

A few hours a week. I should be able to start testing any new drivers within 48 hours of receiving it.

* What games you have that you can to do preliminary (before driver update, i.e. with the most recent official MobileForce driver, or in comparison to the "stock" LaptopVideo2Go variant) and post-update (after updating the driver to the new BETA MobileForce driver) benchmarks and evaluations (any noticeable "choppiness", GLARING bugs, and image quality are the key points)

I own FO3 and Crysis but there are a few freebie gaming bench tests available that is easily downloadable. I also have a paid license for 3dmark Vantage.

On side note about me. I'm waiting on delivery of my second M17x with the ATi cards. My first system I tested well over a dozen drivers and settings. I had the 280M SLI. Here is my Vantage score with physx off! LINK
